Best Coast Pairings reached out to us for design help with the overall design of their web and mobile applications. The software is primarily used by players and tournament organizers before and during events, so ease of use is essential. The UI of the application also needed improvements so we were tasked with creating a functional and flexible design system.
Check One Two began with interviews, research, and user testing to identify the best starting point for the design process. Starting with research and analysis ensured that design decisions were based on data rather than aesthetics alone. We developed an extensive style guide and component library that developers appreciated and felt comfortable implementing. We also designed new app features, including leaderboards, event cards, a notification system, and a data visualization library for the team to use moving forward.
A great moment for Check One Two was attending a large tournament to observe how the software was used in real time. Tournament operators and participants shared how much they liked the web-based app we designed and offered suggestions for features they felt would improve the experience. This ended up being crucial because it allowed us to advise Best Coast Pairings to slow work on a new app and instead improve and expand the website’s functionality. Ultimately, this would better meet users’ wants and needs.
